A two-day international seminar focusing on the nuances of Indian theatre will be held under the sponsorship of the Zamorin Guruvayurappan College and the Kerala Society for Theatre Research, at Kozhikodhe from November 8 onwards.
The keynote is to be delivered by Indira Parthasarathy, renowned Tamil fiction writer. Theatre activists from abroad including Lokeren Sutherland (United Kingdom), Jaime (Portugal), Lubna Mariam (Bangladesh), Diana Dorothy (U.S) will participate in the event. Noted Indian theaterpersons Noted theatrepersons from India - Kavalam Narayana Panicker, Usha Nangiar, K. Kaladharan, Gowri Ramanarayanan, P.V.Krishnan Nair, Sharmila Chotrai among others will also address the sessions.
Theater enthusiasts will also have the second annual conference of The Indian Society for Theatre Research (ISTR) organized from December 9 in Kochi.
This conference will be held by The Centre for Creative Writing under the Department of Hindi, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), and the Kerala Society for Theatre Research. The conference on `Indian theatre: politics and performance' will be held at the CUSAT campus.
The organizers said the three-day conference was intended to create a platform for discussing various aspects of the theme.

This is a twisted tale of four lovers presented with a blend of dance, drumming, voice and performances that are full of energy, and is sure to entertain children and adults alike! And then there is New York’s Concrete Temple Theater Group, presenting their production of The Whale, which is based on Melville’s great classic- Moby Dick.
Among the list of the Indian plays to be savored here are, Love Letters by Rage Productions, a story about two people that opens out to the audience by the correspondences they share, giving us a view about the way their love, life and relationship shapes up; Q Theater Productions from Chennai will be presenting their well known play- The President is Coming, a comedy that explores the dog-eat-dog world of constant competitions, reality television and short-lived fame- a world where six ambitious young Indians will stop at nothing; Creeper a production of Bangalore’s Actors’ Ensemble, which looks at the million ways at the changing peoplescape of Bangalore; and The Suit that is a presentation by The Company Productions, Chandigarh.
The fest has also collaborated with Goethe Institute to produce a play, the Electronic Cities, this being an Indo- German initiative, the play will be premiered for the first time at the festival. All plays will commence at 7:30 pm; tickets are available from 24 July onwards and are priced at Rs. 500, Rs 300 and Rs 150, with season passes being available at Rs 2500 and Rs 1500 each.
